From ICE at the NATIONAL HARBOR to our New Years Kiddie Bash on Alton

Matt and I had been threatening each other that we should go to experience ICE at the Gaylord Hotel here in DC.  ICE is an exhibition in 5 degrees F created by 45 Chinese carving 2 millions pounds in of ICE in 30 days into slides and an entire dreamworks pictures figurines everywhere.
Can you say MADAGASCAR chilling out?
I have to admit the idea of being stuck in crowds was not on the top of my bucket list, but Lisa, Ethan's Mom, mentioned to me she was also interested and thought there were some special deals online to stay the night as well and get a fun christmas memory package at the hotel.   After much messing about, debating dates and should we just go go for a day trip... we finally booked two rooms- the very last minute deal turned out to be such a  great treat!  We got comfy rooms dead center with an atrium interior balcony.  The view resembled one from a cruiseship with a dizzying view of the lobby and then the Potomac River and Alexandria, Virginia beyond!
Here are some daylight verses night pictures of our view from our room.

On Dec 30, Emilee celebrated her golden first birthday!

Cute little pebble! Zara was in heaven with her baby cousin trying to help her do all sorts of things. It was a great party.

I also wold be VERRRY remiss if i didnt share our kiddie bash for NEW YEars EVE hosted by Lisa, Steve and Ethan on Alton!  All of Zara's great buddies from Westmoreland (her first school) were there! We counted down at 836pm and told them it was midnight!
What a dance party it was- thanks to Carl's iPod- and Lisa's big purchase- a disco ball to boot!
